About Sand in the City Yoshida’s Sand in the City is the primary fundraiser and community outreach opportunity for Kids on the Block. Yoshida’s Sand in the City 2008, the 13th annual sand sculpting benefit for Kids on the Block, will be held July 18th – 20th at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland. On Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., more than 450 tons of sand will be sculpted into giant sculptures by local companies and organizations.
